Thoughts on S60

reflections on the most popular mobile operating system worldwide

Okay, maybe AFTER the announcement…

Well, I was under the impression that the virtual event was open to the public, but I guess I was wrong. Oops.

Either way, the announcements over, press shots are available, and I have them all uploaded to my Ovi account.

To be honest, I’m a little disappointed with everything I’m seeing so far. Resistive touch screen, slow response times, and inconsistent menu operations don’t bode well for a phone that’s supposed to compete in the midrange market with the likes of the G1 and the iPhone. I still think I’ll be picking one up (in blue or the standard silver trim), but I’m going to hope they fix some of these issues before it’s finally released. Oh, and the release date; NEXT YEAR for a NAM version. 😦

Check out Engadget’s hands on coverage here…

Now, what are the odds that they’ll ship with that handy desk stand?

  2. I too was a little let down as well (for many of the same reasons you are), but I still think this is a compelling device at the price point they have set. I suppose I just think it is a little flat especially considering what HTC and Apple are doing.

…and the wait time for the NAM is extremely annoying –
